Cat Anxiety Treatment

Unfortunately, anxiety is a fact of life - whether that be for humans, dogs or cats! So how do you know if you should be using a cat anxiety treatment?

A cat's life isn't that complicated, their time is spent doing a few tasks, namely sleep, patrol, hunt (or play), eat, groom, and sleep. If your cat isn't doing any of these tasks (note sleep is there twice as it's that important) then that is a clear sign that they are feeling stressed and they may benefit from a cat anxiety treatment.

The toileting habits of a cat can be a clear indication of stress. Cat's are naturally clean animals, so not using the litter tray and toileting in parts of the house suggest something is wrong. Also, an upset stomach or even constipation can be an indication that your feline friend is feeling anxious about something.

Other signs can include over grooming or scratching, spending an excessive amount of time alone or hiding in small spaces (like under the bed) or being overly vocal or aggressive to people or other animals.

There's also some clear body language signals that you can look out for including, staying low to the ground, twitchy ears or the tail being carried low for a prolonged period of time.

If your cat is displaying any of these signs, then a cat anxiety treatment may help to return your cat to a calm and comfortable state.

The best cat anxiety treatment by far is something that Holistic Hounds doesn't sell (although we do have plenty of it!) and that's good old fashioned TLC. That said, the process can be helped along with some of the cat anxiety treatment products that are available on the website.

Holistic Hounds offers four different products that can help with cat anxiety. These are:

Holistic Hounds Calming Blend is a blend of herbs for cats that helps promote calm. The blend is added to the food on a daily basis and is good for lowering general anxiety levels.

Holistic Hounds Calming Spritz Spray is an aromatherapy spray containing lavender and chamomile hydrosols. The spray is good to calm a cat before, or during an event that they find stressful.

Holistic Hounds Soothing Spritz Spray is an aromatherapy spray containing tea tree and chamomile hydrosols. The spray is good to calm a cat after an event that they find stressful and can help them settle.

Holistic Hounds Energising Spritz Spray is an aromatherapy spray containing peppermint and orange hydrosols. The spray is good to motivate a cat to face an event that they find stressful and can help give a little confidence.

Remember, love and patience is key when using any cat anxiety treatment!
