Eye Health In Dogs
It’s easy to understand why we say that the eyes are the windows to the soul when you look in to your dog’s eyes! At Holistic Hounds we believe that dogs have some of the most expressive eyes in the animal kingdom, and looking after those big brown (or blue!) eyes is an important part of being a dog owner.
Just like us, there are lots of things that can cause problems with your dog’s eyes - from getting something in them like dirt, dust or a fly, to more serious health problems.
It’s really important to check your dog’s eyes on a regular basis and make sure that everything is looking as it should.
When checking your dog’s eyes, you want to see that they are clear and bright. The eyes should be open, your dog shouldn’t be squinting, watch for excessive tearing or discharge around the eye or any signs of redness. Cloudiness of any part of the eye is not normal and warrants further investigation. Also, if your dog is rubbing or pawing at their eyes excessively it suggests there is a problem.
If your dog is a long-haired breed, you may want to consider trimming the hair around the dog’s eyes as this can cause irritation.
The Holistic Hounds Eye Infusion is a great natural pet medicine that can be used as a regular eye was to just help promote general eye health or as a natural medication for dogs to help treat a wide variety of eye conditions.
